The primary goal of any business project is the delivery of business value or benefit. Although relevant, traditional project management needs to be broadened to address the unique requirements of business projects. This intensive 3-day course addresses the concepts and issues of business focused project management and assists delegates in making the shift from a strong but narrow technical project management practice to a broader, more business-oriented approach.

The course focuses on the fundamentals of Project Management from a business and people perspective as well as embracing the standards and best practices as contained in the PMI PMBOK Guide and other international standards. It is underpinned by the unique BFPM model and ODPM methodology and is based on the text “The Practice of Project Management: A Business-Focused Approach ” authored by Dennis Comninos and Enzo Frigenti.

The course is presented as a balanced mixture of theory, discussion, and practical sessions. It is conducted in a lively and interactive manner and participants are encouraged to raise issues and to challenge current project management thinking. A computer-based simulation is conducted which highlights the role of a PM during the Execution Phase and is used to reinforce the basic PM principles and concepts.
