NEC3 Engineering & Construction Contract (ECC)

Course Features

Course Details

The NEC Family of Standard Form Contracts is used by major organisations across the length and breadth of South Africa. And this modern family of contracts has become the standard for private companies, parastatals and public sector organisations alike. The reason for this is that the NEC3 is often praised for facilitating the implementation of sound project management principles and practices as well as being flexible, simple to understand and it has been said that it promotes amicable working relationships. Because of the demand and use of the NEC it has become an essential and commercial requirement for anyone involved in the SA construction industry to have a good working knowledge of how the NEC3 ECC actually works in practice – this just makes good business sense!

The aim of this 3-day training course is to equip all Course Participants with a detailed understanding and practical working knowledge of the mechanics and day-to-day functions of the NEC3 ECC. It address and answers the concerns and issues that you the NEC3 User is likely to face, and it will explore how to practically use the NEC3 in a real-world construction environment.

The 3-day course will cover in detail:

  • The NEC3 ECC’s key features, including: main and secondary options
  • The use of early warnings
  • Compensation events
  • How to prepare and assess tenders
  • Procurement processes
  • Dispute resolution
  • Project management and risk management

We have based the training course on a mix of research, actual experience as well as some of the trials and tribulations we have seen first-hand when dealing with the NEC3 Black Book.
