If you are brand new to the HR department or have recently taken on HR responsibilities in your organisation or if you have even taken on responsibilities in another functional area of HR…you will be forgiven if you are feeling a little overwhelmed and a little out of your depth. Your organisation and its employees are counting on you to provide accurate information, advice and answers on a wide spectrum of topics from recruitment and selection to labour law and industrial relations issues, employee benefits as well as HR records management and everything in between.

But getting the answer wrong, or worse not even knowing the answer when needed really isn’t an option for you in your new HR role, especially if you want to instil confidence and credibility…so you really have your work cut out for you because you need to get up-to-speed right away!

This is where this training course comes in as it has been thoroughly researched and designed to cover in detail the most important and mission critical information you need to know to get on track in just three days! You could spend years at a university learning the exact same information – but who has the time for that? Quite often these academic programmes are very theoretically-loaded with very limited real practical application. But this course is different because during this comprehensive and information-rich training course, real-life HR issues and experiences will be discussed and shared so that you can step into your new role with confidence and you will use what you learn for years to come.

So, the only question left to ask is – DO YOU WANT TO SINK OR SWIM? And I already know what your answer is. You can’t afford to learn through simply trial and error…when you can invest in 3 days that will lay a solid foundation to your HR career.

So you have a team working together towards a common goal…but each of your team members are diverse and they all bring different and unique things to the table…so this then means that this diversity can in actual fact be quite difficult to manage.

And let’s be brutally honest, what motivated yesterday’s team member simply doesn’t work today. With many new challenges stemming from a dynamic and ever-changing business environment, the threat of another global recession coupled with the stress of the rising cost of living, all of these issues have left many team members feeling anything but motivated…and this can and does have an impact on your team’s performance.

Most organisations build their structure around teams and rely heavily on teams to produce the goods. The problem is that optimising your team’s performance is not only a few fun activities once a year to get the morale of your team up, but a deeper and more in-depth knowledge of how teams should operate and be managed to increase productivity and performance.

That is why this course is absolutely essential for anyone managing teams. Because no matter how much (or how little) experience you have – this training course is crammed full of ideas, tips, techniques and take home strategies for you to update and enhance your skills and guide you to create and manage a more productive, effective and winning team!

But the long awaited GCC 2010 is now starting to replace both the GCC 1990 and 2004 versions in practice, and if you aren’t using the updated version…you should be!

GCC 2010 does indeed satisfy the CIDB’s Standards for Uniformity in Construction Procurement as a standard form of conditions of contract. But…if getting to grips with the revised GCC 2nd Edition 2010 wasn’t enough, National Treasury then issued new regulatory changes in terms of the Preferential Procurement Regulations on the 11th of December 2011, which are not in line with CIDB requirements…

…this means that many employers, contractors and consultants are quite literally scrambling to make sense of it all and are going back to the drawing board to figure out how all of these changes actually work in practice if they want to win public sector work!

That is where this training course comes in, as it focuses on and discusses in detail the significant changes as well as the new features of GCC 2010. In addition we will focus on how to use the GCC 2010 in a ‘design-and-build’ situation as well as when projects comprise civil, building, mechanical and electrical works or a combination of these disciplines.

Think of this training course as your essential guide to the GCC 2010 as it will provide you with much needed clarity and detail on everything you need to know about the GCC 2010 in a fast-paced and plain-English way that is guaranteed to provide a whole new level of understanding to anyone that has to deal with and use this contract on a regular basis.

And as an additional bonus, your registration includes a FREE copy of the 2nd Edition 2010 General Conditions of Contract for Construction Works – which is valued at over R500!

MYTH – You think that because you are an Engineer, Scientist or Technical Professional that presentation skills come naturally to you…wrong! Although you are most probably very well versed in the technical nature of your particular subject, but this does not automatically make you a dynamic presenter! It is all too often that a good message is lost simply because of poor delivery.

The reality is that technical presentations are very different from ‘regular’ or marketing-focused presentations simply because you have to convey much more detailed and often complex information.

And with today’s tech savvy audiences becoming more and more sophisticated, sloppy presentations simply won’t do and in fact they do more of a disservice to the message you are trying to get across. And a poor presentation can also severely damage your reputation and credibility leaving you a laughing stock…and who wants that?

This training course is specifically geared towards Engineers, Scientists & Technical Professionals who have to explain complex and technical information to audiences in a compelling way. It will teach you how to give your audience the information they need without boring them or killing them with techno-babble.

It has also been designed in such a way to be as practical and as interactive as possible. So, no matter if you are preparing for your very first presentation or if you’ve given hundreds, this course will help you to improve your technical presentation skills as well as mastering the tools and techniques that will give your presentations impact and flair.

In a nutshell we can guarantee that by attending this training course that you will develop powerful presentation skills and your audience won’t forget you…or your technical presentation in a hurry!

With the volume of information continually increasing, some companies choose to spend a small fortune on state-of-the–art computerised HR records management systems whilst others prefer to rely on traditional paper-based systems…but no matter your preference (or budget) it is critical that you maintain accurate HR records, so that you can access the information records immediately as well as that you store and dispose of them properly when the time comes.

In truth, many companies have a rather lax and haphazard approach to records management. HR Managers often ‘hope’ that they have it right…but let’s be honest…this kind of thinking just doesn’t make good business sense and can quite easily put your organisation in a tight spot both legally and financially. The HR department is the gateway to and the storage centre for all personnel files, employee records and relevant legal documents as well as any other information that you are expected to store, maintain, access or destroy.

The importance of effective HR records management really comes into focus when you consider that the CCMA recently reported a staggering 25% increase in their case load over the past 5 years, with the current load sitting at over 154,000 cases as at March 2011! In almost two-thirds of these cases the employer had to pay the employee because the procedures followed were unfair and the disciplinary documentation was incorrect…so in the event of a CCMA hearing the right document can support your case and bring the process to a swift and favourable conclusion…but that is only if you have the right information and you can easily access it!

That is where this training course comes in. In just 2-days we will show you how to create a comprehensive and fail-safe HR records management system that is tailored to the specific needs of your department and organisation. You’ll learn why most HR records management systems fail but more importantly you will learn practical, ready-to-use techniques and time-saving tips that you can use as soon as you get back to your workplace.

Sally Morgan is a Labour Relations Specialist who now runs her own consultancy that specialises in all labour matters. Her broad experience and expertise also includes the recruitment, HR and training fields.

Sally’s passion though is for labour relations and she brings a strong combination of skill and practical experience to the problems from both an employee and employer perspective. She says, “my research has shown me that line managers clearly recognise that practical guidance as well as the skills that will allow them to competently handle disciplinary hearings, warnings, dismissals as well as CCMA cases are essential for their career development.”

Sally goes onto say, “however, the reality is that many line managers never quite find the time to train themselves on these skills. So, if you’re worried that these courses are is going to be an agonising 2 days of painful lectures and labour law dos and don’ts that honestly just make your head hurt, don’t panic! Unlike other training courses in the marketplace I have created a series of hands-on and interactive courses focused on scenarios and examples based on real examples and you’ll gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience that you need to handle any labour issue with confidence.”
